Burnley's HAF Programme

Participation Works are proud to work alongside Burnley Council to co-ordinate Burnley's HAF (Holiday Activities & Food) programme, which provides free activities & food throughout the school holidays for children who are eligible for benefits-related free school meals.

We work with a number of high-quality providers across the town to create a great schedule of activities that parents can choose for their children to attend over the Easter, Summer and Christmas school holidays. From tennis to crafts, football to giant inflatables, each provider designs their activity programme to keep the children engaged, as well as providing a nutritious meal.

Since launching in Summer 2021, the HAF programme has had a huge impact in keeping Burnley's children fed and active over the school holidays. In the six-week holidays of Summer 2022 alone, over 1,100 children aged 4-11 benefitted from the HAF programme, demonstrating the massive need for this project in Burnley.
