Calico Dovestone Gardens - Supported Living Project

Participation Works NW originally started in community engagement - getting out into communities, speaking to people who live & work there, and partnering with other organisations to address the issues identified.

Whilst our organisation has evolved, community engagement is still at the heart of what we do. In 2020, we started working with Calico Homes on the development of the supported living project on the Burnley General Hospital site. We regularly met with the public, engaging them in every step of the development, giving them the opportunity to have a say in key decisions that shaped these fantastic new homes.

The development was completed and started welcoming residents in April 2025, and has been life-changing for all who live there. Many of those who attended the regular consultations became residents at Dovestone Gardens & it has been great to see the project through to completion. We are proud to have also secured the contract for community engagement on the new Calico Supported Living Project at the Accrington Victoria Hospital site and recently supported with the first community consultation (May 2026).
