Zoey Ashe - Project Management Apprentice at Calico
Zoey has been involved with Participation Works since hopping on board the Space Bus as a child. She continues to support us in various ways, read on to find out more...
How did you first get involved with Participation Works?
What impact has our work had in your life?
During Covid I joined the Youth Panel. This gave me the chance to support my community and plan/deliver youth-friendly projects. It has also allowed me to give back to Participation Works as I have attended some great events. I supported with the Youth Bus re-launch during Covid as well as the 20th year Anniversary celebration and many more! Through the Youth Panel I did some projects with Burnley Youth Theatre that also supported my community.
I then joined the Rise Up! Group in 2023 as I started to finish college. I was struggling to find a job so I decided to be a part of the change that needed to happen. Calico put out an advert for an apprenticeship for the Connected Futures project, so I decided to go for it. I truly believe that without the support of Participation Works I wouldn't be in the role or position that I am in today.
What advice would you give to other young people?
The people you choose to spend your time with now play a crucial role in shaping who you’ll become. Surround yourself with those who push you to grow, inspire you to reach higher, and offer you support when you need it. Your future will be influenced by them.
Thank you, Zoey!
